Hi, all! For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm Kristen, a photographer based out of Rockland, MA. I live here with my husband and three kids, and we love the community that we are a part of here. We miss it!! That's why I have decided to join in on a nationwide photography project started by Needam, MA photographer Cara Soulia (https://carasoulia.com/front-steps-project-needham/ and on IG @carasoulia).
The project was designed to help us feel connected even though we might be and feel isolated at this crazy time. The aim is to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we may not see each other at school events, sporting events, on the train or at the grocery store. How fun will it be to see these images of your neighbors and friends and their kids?! This project has gained incredible popularity in a short amount of time and I want to join in to help my own neighbors and friends feel less distant. Participating in the project also gives everyone the opportunity to pay it forward to those who might need it most.
Here's how it works: I am offering to take five minute 'Front Steps Portraits' of Rockland and Hanover residents. These won't be traditional 'get dressed up for family photos'. Come as you are--family pj day? Awesome! Workout gear? Yes. Kids in mismatched clothes? Perfect. Want to make it silly? Do it! Want to share some good news or an encouraging message on a piece of paper or letterboard? Go for it! Be as creative as you want.
You email me and let me know you want to participate. We will choose a time, likely in the late afternoon, and you will know I am coming. I will beep when I arrive, and you can step outside. I will be standing AT LEAST 10 feet away at all times. I will physically touch no one and nothing except my camera. I will direct you with my words, snap a few photos and be off. After your quick session, I will email you the digital file of your portrait (you will receive only ONE image). In exchange, I am asking you to pay it forward and make a donation to a charity of your choice. I would love it if you would also share the image on your Facebook and Instagram pages, including the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject. Tag me (@kristenhourihanphotography) if you share, please. I will also be sharing these photos on both my Facebook and IG photography accounts, crediting Cara Soulia with the idea.
